How to Make Our Signature Vanilla Latte at Home

There’s just something timeless about a vanilla latte — warm, creamy, and gently sweet. It’s one of our most popular drinks at the North Arrow Coffee Mobile Café, and today, we’re inviting you behind the counter to learn how to make it just like we do.
This is part of our North Arrow Café at Home series — simple recipes to help you recreate your favorite café drinks wherever you are.
☕ What You’ll Need
Ingredients:

1 double shot of espresso (18g in / 36g out / 24–27 seconds)

8–10 oz of steamed milk (we recommend whole or oat milk)

0.75–1 oz of homemade vanilla syrup (recipe below)
Tools:

Espresso machine or moka pot
-
Milk frother or steam wand
-
12 oz mug or to-go cup
👨🍳 How to Make It
1. Pull your espresso.
Use fresh, high-quality coffee — we recommend our [Espresso No. 07] for this. Pull a double shot using an 18g dose, aiming for 36g out in 24–27 seconds.
2. Add the vanilla syrup.
Measure 0.75 to 1 oz of syrup into your cup. Adjust based on how sweet you like it.
3. Steam your milk.
Heat and texture your milk until it’s around 140–150°F. You’re aiming for a creamy microfoam, not big bubbles.
4. Combine.
Pour the milk gently into your cup over the espresso and syrup, finishing with a soft cap of foam.
5. Enjoy!

🍯 North Arrow Vanilla Syrup Recipe
This is the exact syrup we use in the café — rich, simple, and made with clean ingredients.
Ingredients:

350g sugar
-
1 oz vanilla extract
-
7 oz hot water
Instructions:

Add 350g sugar to a 16 oz squeeze bottle.

Add 1 oz vanilla extract.

Pour in 7 oz hot water.

Stir or shake until fully dissolved.

Store in the fridge and use within 2 weeks.
